TEAMWORK

Teamwork is vital to the excellence of our program. Collaboration, support, and camaraderie are fostered both by trainees and administration.

Resident Life:

Outside the workplace, residents socialize, ski, climb, compete in sports, play jazz, and do just about everything else!  Our residents, chief residents, and attending physicians are fully committed to complying with all work hour standards set forth by the national Residency Review Committees in Internal Medicine. This environment will provide you with the opportunity to learn and practice the art of medicine and maintain a high quality of life outside the workplace.

Library Access?

Well-equipped medical libraries housing an extensive catalog of journals and medical reference texts are located in all hospitals (VAMC, UUHC, IMC) and are open to residents 24 hours a day. During the day they are well staffed should you need assistance. The Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library is located 25 yards from the back entrance of the School of Medicine which is structurally contiguous with the University Hospital.

Meals?

Residents are provided with lunches during noon conferences at UUHC, VAMC and IMC.  Call money is added to the residents' I.D. cards to be used in any food service area at UUHC.

Call Rooms?

Private call rooms are available at all hospitals.  In addition, lockers are provided for secure storage of personal belongings.

What about parking?

You must purchase a parking permit from Parking Services to park at the University of Utah Health Care and you are provided a few choices of different price ranges.  The University's GME Office has arranged that residents with an "A" parking permit be allowed to park in one of our designated terrace parking.  Parking is free at LDS hospital and the VAMC.
